Investments are either property acquired for the purpose of producing income for its owner, or expenditures made for income-producing assets. Plants and equipment are examples of investments for manufacturers, and stocks and bonds are examples of investments for individuals. In general terms, investments refer to the accumulation of some type of asset in the hopes of attaining a future return from it.
