Foundries are factories where metal castings are produced by pouring molten metal into a pre-shaped mold. Foundries are often used by industrial manufacturers and companies in order to produce metal castings for a variety of purposes including the production of machine parts and consumer metal products such as automobile parts. Foundries will often use high powered blast furnaces in order to heat metals to a high enough temperature that they become liquid, where they are then poured directly into a mold. Once the metal has cooled off and hardened, the casting is then removed, taking the shape of the mold.
