A food broker is an independent agent who acts on behalf of a food manufacturer in selling and marketing the manufacturer's products. Food brokers differ from salespeople, who are direct employees of a manufacturer. Food brokers are paid by commission as a variable cost tied directly to the volume of the product being sold.
