National or local educational associations are great for many different things for teachers and children. Youth and Latino groups can help bring those in the community together and give them something to do on weekends or after school. Volunteer programs are available from many different non profit organizations that are always looking for extra help. If you want to find an agency that you can volunteer with, the Internet or phone book can be two great places to start. Many schools will have afterschool programs for students to get involved with a psychology, history, art, social studies, business, or tech group to further educate them in things that they aren't able to cover during regular school hours. You can ask your child's teacher if there is any type of special program available from the school and see what is required to obtain a membership. Many youth groups will accept anyone, while others may ask that the student have a certain grade point average or family background to join. Funds are always needed for many non profit organizations. Therefore, the government may issue grants to help support the services the group offers. Public schools that want to reform education can get the students and parents involved in order to reach a goal the school has made. National education associations for public schools will not only bring the community together, they can also bring professional development for teachers and a better environment for the children. Ask family members, neighbors, and co-workers if their children are involved in any type of group to find other options available to you in your community.

Educational associations can be an excellent resource for anyone involved in the practice or profession of education. There are more than 3,000 national, regional, and state education organizations including many associations that provide information and assistance on a broad range of education-related topics. Educational associations are alliances of individuals and affiliated organizations with the common interests of supporting each other to further their goals in the field of education. Some educational associations focus on the needs of educators, by providing a host of benefits and services to its members. Others are centered on the goal of advancing, promoting excellence and supporting specific educational disciplines, such as science or technology.
