A court & convention reporter, also sometimes referred to as a stenographic reporter, is a person whose occupation is to transcribe spoken or recorded speech into written form. Court & convention reporters typically use stenography equipment to take verbatim reports of speeches, conversations, legal proceedings, meetings, conventions, and other events when written accounts of spoken words are necessary for correspondence, records, or legal proof. In the legal realm, court reporters produce official transcripts of court hearing, depositions and other judicial proceedings.
