The fabrication process of artificial limbs should not be rushed. Some artificial limbs for legs and arms are simple devices while other artificial limbs are very high tech. An amputee may use artificial limbs for sports or other recreational activities. An amputee with an artificial limb may have an electric prosthesis, or they may have a mechanical prosthesis, both of which are common types of artificial limbs. Some amputees who have an above the elbow or shoulder amputee use a hybrid of mechanical artificial limbs and electric artificial limbs. There are advantages and disadvantages to both kinds of artificial limbs.
